Frequently Asked Questions
Care instructions:
- Wash separately from towels or items that leave lint.
- Wash in warm to hot water.
- Use any laundry soap that does not contain bleach or fabric softener additives.
- Hang to dry.
- Cloths can also be hand washed with laundry or dish soaps that do not contain skin softeners (these may plug the microfibers). The cloths must be rinsed well of soap or some residue will remain on surfaces after you clean.
- Periodical boiling of the cloths helps open the micro fibres as wide as possible to release built up laundry soaps and to lighten some stains. This also sterilizes the cloth. Simply boil cloth in a pot of water on top of the stove for 5 minutes. We also recommend (after personal experience) to set the timer as one can become distracted and forget about the cloths and boil the pot dry. Dump the water and cloths into the sink and rinse with cooler water if you want to use them immediately. If not, hang to dry.
My cloth is leaving lint behind
- The cloth could have been washed with some linty items or put in the dryer.
- Boil the cloth in a pot of water on top of the stove for 5 minutes. This causes the micro fibre to open as wide as possible and release the lint.
My cloth is not cleaning as well as it used to or leaves streaks behind
- The microfibers need to been cleaned on a regular basis in order to work effectively. As you clean, the micro fibres are pulling in dirt from the surface. When you rinse the cloth with warm water, the heat causes the fibre to expand and the water rinses most of the dirt out. A little dirt remains trapped behind and builds up with use.
- The magic cloth may have been washed with fabric softener. Fabric softeners can plug the micro fibres and destroy their ability to pull dirt into the cloth. Try washing the cloth separately as stated in the care instructions and then boil for 5 minutes in a pot of water on top of the stove.
- The magic cloth may have been used with chemical cleaners which can permanently damage the micro fibres and their ability to clean.
- All the residues from previously used cleaners may not have been removed from the surface. Each time that you use a cleaning solution on a surface a residue is left behind that builds up with use. These residues cause the streaks. It can take 1-4 initial cleanings of that surface with the Tergo Magic Cloth to remove these residues. This requires that the Magic Cloth be laundered more often at first, as it is filling up with dirt faster than usual.
Why do Tergo Magic Cloths cost more than micro fibre cloths available in retail stores?
- Tergo Magic Cloths are 100% manufactured in Sweden. The Tergo micro fibre is manufactured, the fabric milled and the cloth finished in Sweden under strict environmental guidelines. Cheaper imitations made in other countries do not have the same high environmental standards to reduce or remove harmful chemicals and green house gases during the manufacturing process.
- Tergo Magic Cloths have more micro fibre per square centimetre than micro fibre cloths sold in retail stores. For every square centimetre of fabric there are more than 30 kilometres of fibre in Tergo Magic Cloths. This denser micro fibre count gives you more cleaning power in a single wipe as well as a longer life per cloth.
